The 50+ Show London

The 50+ Show, Glasgow 2012, 9 & 10th November, The SECC, Hall 5

We are delighted to announce that we are returning to the SECC for the 5th year running for what promises to be another fantastic, fun and fulfilling 50+ Show.

WOW - what a fabulous 50+ Show in Glasgow in 2011!

The 4th 50+ Show in Scotland took place on 11-12 November at the SECC, Hall 3, in Glasgow. The exhibition - the biggest in Britain for the active over-50s - was a fantastic day out: here's what two of our visitors said:

'I just wanted to say that my friend and I attended the Show in Glasgow and had a great, happy day. From the moment we were greeted at the entrance until we were transported to and dropped off in Glasgow City centre via the courtesy bus at the end of the day we had such a good experience. The dancing and choir kept our toes tapping, the talks were interesting .... All the stands were manned by people who knew what they were talking about and were very informative. I could go on but take it from me, we all had a fabulous day and came home much more knowledgeable than we were when we arrived!' We just want to say thank you very much indeed for organising this with your colleagues. - Jean and Margaret from Lochawe, Argyll.

In 2011 we welcomed a record-breaking number of visitors to the 50+ Show in Glasgow - unaudited preliminary figures from QRS (Quality Registration Services) indicate that the 50+ Show was attended by 7218 visitors over two days, a 40% increase over the total in 2010.

The show featured over 80 stands. Exhibitors included household names such as Age Scotland, Dyson, Mackies of Scotland, McCarthy & Stone, and BT, as well as many others that provided useful goods and services for mature visitors. Alongside the prize quiz each day, there were many prize competitions and draws at the show.

The Rangemaster Cookery Theatre featured live demonstrations by famous chefs from Glasgow's restaurant scene, each competing to outdo each other in deliciousness and culinary spectacle. Dance fans were spoilt for choice, with tap, 'Jane Austen style' dancing, circle dancing, Scottish country dancing and line dancing all on offer. Visitors enjoyed an 'active laughter' session, as well as one-on-one chuckle chats with 'the boffin of joy,' Sharon Miller. Other visitors participated in the have-a-go T'ai Chi sessions in the activity zone....

The Seminar theatre featured gardening questions (from the audience) and answers (from the experts). Show sponsor Prudential offered visitors tax tips and a 'money matters' panel of experts were on hand to answer any questions. Visitors were able to obtain financial advice from TV money expert Sarah Pennells. In the Seminar theatre, visitors were able to learn everything about the 'Digital Switchover,' as well as being able to pick up tips on how to volunteer and how to 'add life to your years.'

Live fashion shows at the event were staged by the Retail Trust and Catwalk Productions, featuring the latest trends for both men and women and from high street names including Marks and Spencers, Matalan, Frasers and Slaters. As ever, models at the fashion show included 'real' people, with 'real' bodies, 'real' hair and 'real' faces. If they can look good, then there's hope for the rest of us!

Instructors from Sparkly Shiny Stuff hosted make and take sessions throughout the event in a dedicated craft zone. Seasonal paper crafts were demonstrated.

We look forward to seeing you at The 50+ Show in Scotland on 11-12 November 2011 at the SECC, Hall 3. Mark the date in your diary and plan to come with a friend!
