MOUTH WATERING CHINESE CUISINE
Back by popular demand, Lisa and Helen Tse of Sweet Mandarin, the fabulous cookery school and restaurant located in Manchester's northern quarter. Learn from the Tse sisters how to make sumptuous chinese dishes from perfect fried rice to yummy sweet chilli chicken tighs. Sweet Mandarin has won the prestigious award of BEST LOCAL CHINESE RESTAURANT in 2010 and was handed the award by TV Chef Gordon Ramsay who was highly impressed by the Tse sisters' cooking. The Tse sisters will be demonstrating in The 50+ Show Cookery Theatre at 1pm on both days of the show.

DO YOUR THING AND SING
Do Your Thing is the exciting new choir to have taken Tameside by storm. In under a year the Do Your Thing community choir, led by Choral Director Liz Taylor, is now a 100+ member strong contemporary singing experience. Performing popular numbers from artists such as Take That, Abba and Queen, to name a few, they are sure to get your feet tapping as they take to the stage at The 50+ Show on the 1st March. With a new choir recently started in Stockport, joining the choir requires no previous singing experience, no auditions, and welcomes all, aged 16 or over for a weekly rehearsal filled with fun, friendship and the songs you might sing along to on the radio (or in the shower!). Whilst performing is not required of members, recent high profile gigs have included the Queen's Jubilee, at Stamford Park's Grand Re-Opening, the Olympic Torch festivities in Ashton and The Palace Hotel in Manchester .For further details, please visit: www.do-your-thing.co.uk

DANCE & LEARN FROM THE BEST!
Ronald Jager and Jenny Sheeran, several times Dutch champions, Top 3 in the UK and Top 24 in all Grand Slam Championships (International, Open British, UK and US Open) will demonstrate and run ballroom dance teach-in sessions on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd of March at The 50+ Show. A little of bit Waltz, some Cha Cha Cha, a taste of Meringue and maybe Rock & Roll Jazz. Whether you have danced ballroom before, are dancing ballroom now or are just starting out on your ballroom adventure, you will surely have fun at The 50+ Show dance floor.

SOMETHING GREAT COOKING IN THE 50+ SHOW COOKERY THEATRE: DEMONSTRATIONS BY ALEX CONNELL of THE CORDON VERT COOKERY SCHOOL:
Alex Connell Principle Tutor at the Cordon Vert Cookery School will be demonstrating a number of exciting vegetarian dishes at this year's show. Alex has worked at The Vegetarian Society for over ten years as well as working as a chef for the Youth Hostel Association, The Vegetarian Housing Association and Glenbank Care Home.
Alex said "I am really looking forward to the show. I cooked on stage last year and have fond memories of the event. The audience asked lots of questions and put me through my paces. I love teaching cookery at the school but nothing sharpens the senses like being on stage. See you at the show"

GET CRAFTING WITH CRAFTELICIOUS
Come along and participate in decopatch activities and watch some demonstrations on how to upcycle furniture and how to "jazz up your junk" - i.e, make an old photo frame or even a shoe box - beautiful and useful again.
Craftelicious is a family run Craft Studio with Cafe in the heart of Chorlton, Manchester that provides creative activities and workshops on a drop –in and structured basis for all. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00am – 5.30pm and Sunday for Private hire.
The Cafe serves freshly ground hand roasted coffee and a selection of loose leaf speciality and herbal teas as well as handmade cakes, cookies and brownies. There is also a Creperie that serves delicious, freshly prepared Breton style sweet and savoury pancakes.
Activities include:
- Ceramic Painting
- Decopatch
- Mosaics
The cost of drop in activities can range from £5/6 up to £20. The activities can take from 30 minutes up to a whole afternoon. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate all activities and products as well as guide and help you choose activities that suit your age/ability.

Britain's Got Talent contestants The Colourful Urban Gypsies at The 50+ Show

Visit the Health Zone for Bowel Cancer Screening information at The 50+ Show
The Bowel Cancer Screening programme is a national programme that has been rolled out across the country. If you are between the ages of 60 and 69 (and in some areas up to 74) you will have received a cardboard orange kit through the door. For many reasons in our busy lives these kits don’t always get completed, if you want more information on why you should do the screening kit and how to do the kit you can have a chat with the team at the 50+ show in Manchester on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd March, there may be an opportunity to speak to people who have been through the screening programme to give some extra insight.

Celebrity Chef Richard Fox to demonstrate at The 50+ Show
Richard Fox is an occasional TV chef, food and drink expert personality, and active supporter of the Love Food Hate Waste campaign. He was winner of The British Guild of Beer Writers awards for Food and Beer writing; he has had his own cooking slot on BBC1 Regional Look North and was a regular chef on BBC 2's Food Poker. He is a regular on The Food Channel’s Market Kitchen, and launched the Love Food Hate Waste concept on this channel.
His first book, The Food and Beer Cook Book was published by Senate in 2006, and was also launched in Australia by Marshal Cavendish.
Richard’s expertise in the world of food and drink have made him a favourite personality for hosting gourmet events for Harvey Nichols, Fullers brewery, as well as The British Ambassador’s residence in Paris in support of British export. He has talked and demonstrated at The National Chef's Conference as well as numerous corporate and private events around the world. He has appeared on UKTV Food, Saturday Cooks on ITV, The Good Food Show on BBC Radio 4, to name but a few. Richard will be demonstrating his culinary skills at both days of The 50+ Show.

On Friday at 12.30-13.15 and Saturday 12.00-12.45 something completely different and fascinating will happen. Tropical Dance - consisting of lovely intoxicating new hybrid of expressive dance consisting of lovely, graceful hand motions of Hula and the lovely rhythmic qualities of African music Hip rolling, sensual, warm and happy music, fun and expressive.
A completely new way of tuition to overcome most people's reluctance to use dance as a way to keep fit The teaching methods are Method rather than routine based. You learn some very basic and simple to grasp principles and in this way you can start moving easily straight away and discover what you thought you never had. You don't have to learn choreographies or routines. So you don't have to worry about things like sense of rhythm, your age or size, or your sense of co ordination. Great fun and easy to do. The movements are flowy and non impact. A lot of it can be done sitting down. This is a "People's" dance, for everyone, it's just that you have never been given a chance.
The rich and fascinating culture, the colourful costumes, intoxicating and happy music and the social aspects all combine into one unbeatable package. All dance has health benefits but the unique focus of Tropical dance is the way it focuses on increasing the strength of the "core" muscles, hips, ankles and knees. British Chen Style Tai Chi College attends The 50+ Show
Chen Style Tai Chi is the oldest system of Tai Chi practised in China, and all other styles of Tai Chi can trace their roots to this system. The British Chen Style Tai Chi College over 50's group will be demonstrating part of the traditional "Old Frame" as well as Fan Form and the Chen Sabre Form!
The British Chen Style Tai Chi College holds classes in Bury, at the Jubilee Centre, Mosley Avenue - for beginners on Thursday and Friday morning. They also have classes in Bury town Centre, Chadderton, Oldham and Uppermill.

Hitting the High Notes
The melodic sound of barbershop choruses have always been popular at our shows and this year we are delighted to present two different groups for visitors to enjoy.
On Friday, the Red Rose Chorus of Preston will be appearing and entertaining everyone with their four-part harmonies. Their performances are sure to be good fun for the audience - and they always enjoy themselves too. The Barbershop "experience" comprises elaborate movements, costumes and humour too! Make sure you don't miss a note by being at the dancefloor for either of their sets: 13.45 and then again at 15.30.
On Saturday, The Red Rosettes, a ladies chorus, will also present two sets during the afternoon. Well known throughout the region, the group has been established for around 30 years and boasts a current membership of around 55 ladies. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and they are always on the lookout for new voices. The presentation is slick, and the music fabulous. Enjoy!

To close the show on both days, Universal Connection Soca Aerobics will storm the dancefloor with an exciting demonstration of Caribbean dance, followed by audience participation. Make sure you stay at the show right to the end, dancing shoes on, for an invigorating workout.

Merengue Dancing for fun
Come and join Karen Mackay in a session of Salsa and Merengue dancing. Karen will explain the steps and different moves carefully so you will know exactly what to do. Karen believes that dancing can make you feel energised and enables you to have fun whilst you keep fit. Anyone who joins in will leave with a smile on their face!

Facilities for the Disabled
The organisers of the show are pleased to announce that sign language interpreters and wheelchairs and motorised scooters will be available for disabled visitors to the show.
"It is very important to us that everyone is able to come along and enjoy the show, including those who require extra assistance to make the most of everything on offer at the show" said Show Director Dr Robert McCaffrey.
Sign Interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing will be at the show on both days and a programme of events being interpreted will be available on the website soon. Please have a look at the Programme (to be advised) or the Venue Information pages of the website for further details.
Shop Mobility of Manchester will also be coming to the show to provide visitors with wheelchairs or motorised scooters for use at the show. The scooters and wheelchairs will be available free of charge to the show visitors who will be able to hire them for the day. If you are interested in hiring a wheelchair or motorised scooter please email us so we can make sure we have plenty available.

A taste of Tai Chi
Come and take part in a session of Tai Chi with Chris Henney. The 'gentle' exercises you will enjoy work on posture, balance, coordination and regulating breathing. Many aches and pain disappear as soon as posture is aligned and Tai Chi can help with fall prevention by improving balance and creating greater stability.

Indoor Rock climbing wall - an exciting new challenge
The addition of a climbing wall at our London and Glasgow shows last year proved hugely popular amongst our visitors, so much so that we have decided to introduce it as an attraction at our Manchester show.
